Poker equity calculator

How often each hand wins, for Texas Hold'em: hand against hand, hand against a range, or range against range, up to six players, on any board. Type a hand or a range, paint one on the grid, or load a range from our own solver. It all runs in your browser; nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

PlayerEquityWinTie

Equity is the share of the pot each player wins if all the cards are dealt out and nobody folds. A tie gives each player sharing the pot their part of it.

Preflop matchups

Some all-in matchups people ask about, counted exactly over every board. Suits matter a little: these are the suits shown, and hands that share a suit block each other's flushes.

Equities include half of every tie. Every 5-card board is counted: 1,712,304 of them for two hands.

How to enter hands and ranges

Each player gets a hand or a range. Type a hand as its two cards, AhKh, or pick them from the cards under the players: click in a player's box, then click two cards. A range uses the PioSolver style, with commas between parts:

  • QQ: every queen pair (6 combos). AKs is the 4 suited combos, AKo the 12 offsuit, AK all 16.
  • 77+: sevens and every pair above. A2s+ is A2s up to AKs; KTo+ is KTo, KJo and KQo.
  • 99-66 and A5s-A2s: everything between the two, inclusive.
  • AKo:0.5: half of the combos, as solvers write a hand played part of the time. Any part of a range takes a weight from 0 to 1.
  • random: any two cards.

Cards already on the board or in another player's hand are removed from every range. That is card removal, and it can move a result by a few percent.

Exact or sampled

When every combination of hands and boards can be counted in a few seconds, the calculator counts them all and marks the result exact. Two hands preflop is 1,712,304 boards; a range against a range on the flop is a few million deals. A range against a range preflop is billions, so the calculator deals random boards instead and marks the result sampled. It shows the standard error next to the result ("62.4% ± 0.05%") and keeps dealing until that error is below 0.05 points. A sampled result is never shown as exact.

The preset ranges

The presets are from our own preflop solve of a 6-max cash game: 100 big blinds deep, 5% rake capped at 0.6 big blinds. Each range is the hands that take that action, weighted by how often they take it. A hand the solver raises 40% of the time is in the 3-bet range at 0.4.

What equity leaves out

Equity assumes the hand is played to the river with no more betting. Real hands are not: a hand that has 40% equity on the flop may only win 30% of the pot once the betting makes it fold some turns. How much of its equity a hand actually wins is its realization, and it depends on position, the board and the players. Equity is where analysis starts, not a decision. To compare it with the price of a call, use the pot odds calculator. Omaha, ICM for tournaments and hand-history input are not part of this calculator.

Equity says who is ahead. megamaster shows what your play does with it.

megamaster puts your own hand histories next to solver solutions and a 172-million-hand population sample. You can see which spots cost you money and drill them against the solver until you play them right. It runs on your own machine. It is in private testing now.
